HODGDON, Maine — A portion of U.S. Route 1 was briefly closed Monday morning when a tractor trailer went off the road and rolled onto its side.

Noah Binder, 21, of Bridgewater was traveling south on Route 1, also known as the Calais Road, in a 1003 Freightliner tractor trailer when he lost control of the rig while navigating a sharp turn around 6:48 a.m., according to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.

The tractor trailer rolled over into a ditch, partially blocking the road until the vehicle could be towed out. Binder was hauling a load of hay bales at the time of the crash.

Binder was wearing his seatbelt and received minor injuries. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to police. No charges were filed.

Deputy Johnston was assisted by the Hodgdon Fire Department.
