Wildcats come up short in home game against Camden Hills

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle varsity hockey team lost its first game of the new season as visiting Camden Hills skated to a 5-4 win at The Forum on Friday, Dec. 9.

The Wildcats and Windjammers traded goals during the first period with Camden Hills’ Bennet Gardner and Owen McManus slipping past Wildcat goalie Conor Bell, while the Wildcats’ Charlie Peers and Dawson Kinney sent slapshots past Windjammer goalie Quinn Hoppin.

During the second period, the Wildcats netted two more goals with Kinney and an assist off Breygan Mahan’s goal. The Windjammers retaliated with a goal from Zanni Sabatini with both teams playing aggressively for the puck. The period ended with a score of 4-3 in the Wildcats’ favor.

In the third period, Presque Isle lost some steam as their opponents tied things up at 4-4 with a goal from Aiden Aselton. The Wildcats tried to rally for another scoring opportunity, but couldn’t get the puck past the Windjammers. The final goal was made by Windjammer McManus with an assist from Aselton.

For penalties the Windjammers had 10 to the Wildcats’ six, while Wildcat goalie Bell had 21 saves for the game.
