3-Day Outlook: Wednesday, Oct. 25-Friday, Oct. 27

High pressure continues to drift east away from the region today. Meanwhile, a warm front will lift across the region today followed by a cold front that will sag across the Crown this evening then lift back to the north tomorrow remaining stalled close to the Crown Friday. Showers are likely today with a chance for showers tonight. A slight chance for showers is expected Thursday with increasing chances for showers Thursday night. Showers are likely for the St. John Valley Friday and Friday night.

Apex Wx Daily Summary 

Today: Cloudy with an 80 percent chance for showers. Rainfall totals in the 1/10 to 1/4-inch range. High around 59. Southwest wind 5-10 mph in the morning increasing to 10-15 mph in the afternoon with gusts up to 25 mph possible. 

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance for showers tapering off after midnight. Less than 1/10-inch precipitation expected. Low near 50. West wind in the evening around 5-10 mph becoming northwest overnight 0-5 mph. 

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance for showers. High around 56. Northwest wind 0-5 mph.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy with a 70 percent chance for showers. Rainfall totals in the 1/10 to 1/4-inch range. Low near 51. Southeast wind near calm in the evening becoming south 0-5 mph overnight. 

Friday: Cloudy with a 60 percent chance for showers. Rainfall totals in the 1/10 to 1/4-inch range. High around 60. South/southwest wind 5-10 mph.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy with a 70 percent chance for showers. Low near 52. South wind 0-7 mph.

4- to 7-day outlook: Saturday, Oct. 28-Tuesday, Oct. 31

A cold front crosses the region Saturday with scattered showers tapering off overnight. A colder air mass builds in Sunday followed by an area of low pressure sliding along the cold front near the coast of Maine. Showers are likely overnight into Monday, mixing with snow early Monday. Showers and snow showers change to all rain showers by Monday afternoon with a chance for rain showers overnight into early Tuesday. A slight chance for snow showers under partly sunny skies is expected Tuesday.
