HOULTON, Maine — The Aroostook County grand jury handed up 72 indictments for September, including a Bangor resident who allegedly shot a Wallagrass man.

Jason Nadeau, 49, was arrested July 7. He lived in Soldier Pond at the time.

Police were tipped off when hospital staff at Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent reported treating a man with a gunshot wound. Nadeau had a gun and reportedly shot at people in the home, stole several items and fled, according to police.

The grand jury indicted him on eight charges: robbery, elevated aggravated assault, aggravated reckless conduct, burglary, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal mischief and theft.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt, but an indication that there is enough evidence in a case to move forward with a trial.

A Caribou resident reported a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on March 23. Police arrested Cameron, the driver, when they discovered methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine and a loaded handgun in the car.
