3-day Outlook: Wednesday, Jan. 31-Friday, Feb. 2 

High pressure will move to the south today into tonight with an Alberta clipper approaching Thursday. Snow will overspread the Valley early Thursday and continue through the day before tapering to snow showers Thursday night. Snow showers linger into Friday before ending by Friday evening. Snowfall amounts are a bit uncertain due to various factors with 3-6 inches of snowfall currently anticipated from this system.

Today: Cloudy with a 10 percent chance for precipitation. High around 31. Wind becoming southwest wind 5-10 mph. Wind chill values as cold as -10F. 

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with an 40 percent chance for snow after midnight. Low near 23. West/southwest wind becoming south at 4-6 mph. 

Thursday: Cloudy in the afternoon with an 100 percent chance for snow. 3-6 inches snowfall possible. High around 32. South/southeast wind 4-6 mph becoming east/northeast in the afternoon 5-6 mph.

Thursday night: Cloudy with a 90 percent chance for snow in the evening tapering to snow showers overnight. Low near 18. North wind 4-5 mph. 

Friday: Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance for snow showers. High around 24. North wind 10-15 mph gusting to 21 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy with a 10 percent chance for snow showers. Low near 3 . Northwest wind 0-7 mph.

4- to 7-day Outlook: Saturday, Feb. 3-Tuesday, Feb. 6

The Alberta clipper will close off to the east/southeast of the Maritimes and remain near that region into early next week. This will produce some cloudiness along with brisk winds across the SJV as the weekend progresses. Mostly dry conditions are expected, though some isolated snow showers may occur into early next week. Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies are expected Monday into Tuesday as high pressure moves into the region from the west.
