PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A former airline operations leader has been hired as Presque Isle’s new city manager.

Tyler Brown takes over the job once he’s named by the city council at its meeting Wednesday night. His salary is $120,000 a year. Brown replaces former City Manager Martin Puckett who retired last October.

“I grew up in Ludlow, Vermont, and my grandfather was actually the town manager of Ludlow for about 25 years,” Brown said. “So I was very blessed in the sense that I got to understand the value of servant leadership.”

Brown’s more recent role was overseeing 1,200 team members as general manager of operations for Delta Airlines at JFK International Airport in New York.

He has lived in 11 different cities around the country during his 20 years working for Delta Airlines and views Presque Isle as a city on the cusp of growth and development.

“Being from a small town we have always had that desire to move back into a community with a more homely feel,” Brown said.

He has a wife and two children who will be moving to the area from Georgia in May or June.

Brown applied for the city manager job in Presque Isle using Municipal Resources Inc. which the city council had approved advertising with last fall.
