PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — An early morning fire destroyed a utility trailer and one vehicle outside of a residence on Saturday.
Presque Isle Fire Department received a call on March 9 at 2:49 a.m. for a fire that broke out in a utility trailer at 489 Caribou Rd in Presque Isle. When fire crews arrived the fire had fully engulfed the utility trailer and a passenger vehicle parked in front of the garage, which sustained minor damage to the exterior.
“We quickly got the fire contained and kept the fire from spreading into the garage,” said Adam Rider, Presque Isle Deputy Fire Chief.
A neighbor called in the fire after witnessing the burning utility trailer, according to Rider. Presque Isle fire crews quickly extinguished the trailer and car fires within 20 minutes.
No injuries were reported and the utility trailer and vehicle were deemed a total loss.
“A fast response led to not too much damage to the garage,” Rider said.
The cause of the fire was undetermined after an investigation was done by the Presque Isle Fire Department. There was nothing suspicious found and a follow up investigation from the Office of State Fire Marshal is unlikely, Rider said.
