50 Years Ago — March 13, 1974

  Grants city holds an auction – Going once, going twice, gone. Auctioneers at Grant’s City in Madawaska are taking the podium this month to auction off some merchandise. One auction dollar is given for each dollar spent at Grant’s store. More than 100 persons turned out last Saturday in March of 1974, to spend some auction “bucks.”

25 Years Ago — March 17, 1999

Story shop – A new program is being offered at the Fort Kent Shop and Save grocery store where parents can shop while their young children enjoy an hour of story time. The program is sponsored by the Saint John Valley Reads program through the Ready to Read Community Literacy initiative. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the store to attend a supervised story hour while they take care of their shopping needs. 

10 Years Ago — March 12, 2014

 Snowstorm could drop up to 12 inches – Early Tuesday morning on March 11, 2014, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch, which is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday night, March 13, 2014. Potential snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches are possible, according to the weather service forecast. The heavy snowfall will be accompanied by strong winds from 10 to 20 miles per hour and gusts as high as 30 mph
