CA man arrested in Caribou on drug trafficking charges

CARIBOU, Maine – Maine Drug Enforcement Agents on Tuesday seized a cache of illegal drugs with a street value of over $60,000 from a Fontaine Drive home in Caribou, State Police said. 

Jose Verdugo, 40, of Monrovia, California was arrested and faces several felony drug charges, according to police.  

Verdugo’s arrest followed an MDEA months-long investigation and several controlled purchases of fentanyl from the California man by agents. 

He was taken into custody Tuesday while agents searched the 21 Fontaine Drive home. 

The search yielded over a pound of methamphetamine, approximately 446 Oxycodone 30mg

pills and approximately 30 grams of fentanyl, state police said.

Verdugo was taken to the Aroostook County Jail and charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking of Scheduled W drugs and one count of unlawful trafficking of Scheduled W drugs. 

Bail was set at $30,000 cash.

The Aroostook County Sheriff Office and the Caribou Police assisted in the search and arrest.
