Great support

Gloria J. Towle, Special to The County

A big shout out to everyone who stopped by The Forum during the Spring Trash & Treasure Sale over the weekend. Our shelter booth was set up with tons of wonderful items. We enjoyed having a bake sale that was so popular that most of the tasty treats were sold out early. We also had many handmade items, earrings, quilts, hats, pillowcases, dishcloths and aprons that were donated by several talented ladies.

Our lottery board raffle was quite a hit and Lee Cote from Presque Isle was the lucky winner. We are keeping our fingers crossed that there will be many winning tickets to scratch.

A special thank you to all the many volunteers who cooked for our bake sale, and to the Central Aroostook Humane Society shelter board of directors for working hard to make this event so successful.

With time to barely catch our breath, this Saturday, April 20, we will host our popular and fun Toast to the Animals from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Northeastland Hotel. Tickets will be available at the door for $25.

There will be a cash bar, light refreshments and door prizes, and we have 90-plus amazing silent auction items to bid on. All proceeds from both of these fundraisers will go toward our new building.

The project is going really well and it is so exciting to see the new shelter taking shape.  Again, we are so very grateful for so many individuals and businesses that have been so supportive and generous.

Over the past few weeks, we have had so many posts on our Facebook page of missing and lost animals. We really appreciate when so many of our followers respond and share our posts.  We find that it only takes a day or two, and with many comments and sharing of photos and information we can on occasion happily report that the pet has been found or has made its way home.

If you are looking for that special pet to add to your family, stop by the Central Aroostook Humane Society at 24 Cross St. in Presque Isle. You can also check out our Facebook page.

Please be responsible: spay and neuter your pets.
