Police investigating body found in Caribou on bank of Aroostook River

The body of a male was discovered Tuesday afternoon on the bank of the Aroostook River in Caribou, according to the Maine State Police. The body was found between the dam and Fort Street at approximately 1 p.m., according to a state police press release. The body was transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta for an autopsy to determine positive identification and cause and manner of death. The Caribou Police Department also is investigating. The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and Caribou Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene. Further details were not immediately available.
