3-Day Outlook: Wednesday, May 8 – Friday, May 10

Partly sunny skies are expected Friday with a slight chance for showers as an upper-level trough moves over the region. Forecast models are not in agreement with how much precipitation will occur.

The National Weather Service in Caribou notes that “[t]he Canadian guidance still holds onto the chance for a cutoff low that would maintain a wetter pattern for the state, while the Euro has jumped on board with other guidance to weaken the primary upper level low as the next [disturbance] over the Great Lakes begins to pick up energy.”  Currently, a slight chance for showers persists Friday night under partly cloudy skies across the Saint John Valley.

Daily Summary

Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. North wind around 6 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Tonight: Rain likely, mainly between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m., then scattered showers after 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 41. East wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday: Scattered showers, mainly before 7 a.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Northeast wind 3 to 5 mph.

Friday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 59. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Friday Night: A slight chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

4-  to 7-day Outlook: Saturday, May 11 – Tuesday, May 14

Unsettled weather is expected for the period with high pressure to the north and low pressure sliding to our south. An upper-trough, and possibly a cut-off upper low over the Maritimes, remains over the region into early next week. These features will drive a chance for showers with partly cloudy/partly sunny skies through the period. A warm front looks to lift across the region Monday night followed by a cold front later Tuesday into Wednesday, which may increase chances for precipitation.
