MADAWASKA, Maine – Over 1,000 customers in Madawaska and Grand Isle were left without power on Monday morning, according to an alert from Versant.
The outage occurred at roughly 7:15 a.m. when a car crashed into a utility pole on Main Street in Grand Isle, according to Versant Communications Specialist Tina Morrill. The crash left 1,142 customers without power
“Crews will remain in the field making repairs safely and as quickly as possible until all customers are restored,” a statement from Versant read.
As of 7:45, Versant reported that crews were en route to restore power.
Power for all but 16 customers was restored at 8:30 am. According to Versant’s live outage map, power for these remaining customers is estimated to be restored by noon today.
