One of the nation’s largest banks announced this week that it will close 38 locations nationwide, including four in Maine, according to filings with the federal Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
TD Bank, which has 42 bank branches and ATMs in Maine, said it will close locations in Houlton, Fort Kent, Fairfield and Gorham.
TD Bank officials said in a statement that as they evaluate how customers bank, including in-person and online, they are continually examining their physical store network to provide a mix of TD Bank locations and digital banking products and services.
Last year, the bank closed 20 branches around the U.S., including one in South Portland and one in Caribou.
The closures are apparently slated for early June, according to reports from WCVB Boston and the Hartford Business Journal.
