Springtime is when we in northern Maine start to think about those home improvement projects.
How nice would it be, on a beautiful June evening, to have dinner on the deck? Or maybe it’s time to replace the bath — you know, the one with the seafoam green tub and matching toilet. Maybe last winter was the last straw, and you are not spending another winter cleaning the snow off your car first thing every morning.
And no, I’m not talking about moving to Florida. Although that would solve the issue, so would a garage.
Well, for projects like these, a building permit is needed. So that answers the first question. The next is, “Where do I find the application for the building permit?” That’s an easy one. If you live in Presque Isle, visit our website at presqueislemaine.gov. If not check with your local town office.
For those who do live in Presque Isle, we have moved all of the applications for building, plumbing and electrical permits online. They can be found under the “apply” tab at the top of the city’s website.
But wait — there’s more. You can also file a complaint online, from the same website. Under the “contact us” tab you will find a link to file a complaint. This link will take you to a map, where you can either type the address or select it on the map. Once a property is selected, a topic can be selected on the right-hand side of the map. Boxes for specific information will be just below that. If you would like to leave contact information you are welcome to do so further down, in the same section.
