The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Thursday, Oct. 30.
Thanks to Maine’s no-excuse early voting law, anyone can vote via an absentee ballot for any reason.
Absentee ballots have been available since earlier this month, but the deadline to request a ballot or vote early in person at your town office or city hall is 5 p.m. Thursday, the third business day before the election.
You can request an absentee ballot online here and track its status here.
If you already have an absentee ballot, you must return it to your local clerk’s office no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day.
The U.S. Postal Service recommends mailing your ballot at least seven days ahead of the election. Given the election is less than a week away, the secretary of state’s office suggests returning your completed ballot in person to your town office or city hall, or using a designated absentee ballot drop box in your community.
