At the beginning of this new year, we had a very, very sad situation that occurred at the Central Aroostook Humane Society.
A seizure at a home in northern Maine resulted in nine dogs being brought into the shelter in some of the worst conditions that we had ever seen. These sweet little dogs, 5 to 14 years of age, had been living in a horrific situation. The photos on our Facebook page were truly heartbreaking.
Our shelter manager Betsy, sent photos to local groomers and immediately Clippity Do Dog, Ears to Tail Pet Grooming and Doggie Style LLC came to the rescue of these poor little pups. Tammy, Sarah, Kailyn, Danika and Rachel gave up their Saturday and spent the entire day bathing these dogs, shaving their thick, matted fur and clipping their long nails that had limited their walking — and brought these sweet souls back to life.
The photos on our Facebook page show the incredible transformation. To see these beautiful little pups clean and all sporting warm sweaters and jackets fills our hearts with the love and kindness that we witnessed.
Words can hardly express how grateful and thankful we are for these kindhearted ladies and all they did for these dogs and also for our shelter. We are happy to know that these sweet pups will eventually be adopted and will finally have families to love and care for them.
If you see something, please say something. These precious little pups lived a terrible life, and we really don’t know how long that time was. If you suspect animal neglect or abuse, please take the time to report it to your local animal control officer. Reporting can easily save lives.
