SnowBowl draws thousands for racing excitement

Thousands flocked to venues in Caribou and Presque Isle over the weekend for three days of high paced snowmobile racing and stunts in the fourth annual SnowBowl, Maine’s largest snowmobile event.

The weekend kicked off with a Friday night stunt show in the parking lot of Evergreen Lanes in Caribou. That was followed by two days of Snocross racing at Spud Speedway on a course built in part by the 600 dump truck loads of snow trucked in to make the event possible.

It was the first time the SnowBowl returned to Spud Speedway, the Caribou racetrack co-owned by businessmen Jim Gamage and Troy Haney, since the inaugural event in 2023.

The weekend also featured snow drags at the speedway for the first time, and hosted Xtreme International Ice Racing, a group that races numerous powersports vehicles — from ATVs to speed bikes — around ice rinks, at The Forum in Presque Isle.
