A New Sweden man pleaded guilty Friday to charges related to child sexual abuse material.
Dustin Davenport, 30, pleaded guilty as U.S. District Court in Bangor to possessing, receiving and distributing child sexual abuse material.
Investigators from the Bangor Police Department, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and FBI found that Davenport used a cloud-based instant messaging service to trade child sex materials, according to court records.
Police obtained a search warrant and interviewed Davenport at his home. He admitted he was trading the images over the internet, investigators said. They examined Davenport’s cellphones and found multiple images and video of child sexual abuse, according to court documents.
Davenport faces at least 5 years and up to 20 years in prison for distributing and receiving child sexual abuse material and up to 20 years for possessing such material. He could be fined up to $250,000 for each charge and could also require lifetime supervised release.
A federal district court judge will sentence Davenport after the U.S. Probation Office completes an investigative report.
