The Mapleton Daze Committee will host a spring breakfast fundraiser for Mapleton Daze from 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, at the Lions Hall.

The breakfast buffet will include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, homemade baked beans, pancakes and toast, along with coffee and juice. The suggested donation is $10 per person.

All are welcome at the event, which could start out your Mother’s Day weekend. All proceeds and donations will go toward Mapleton Daze in June.

Annual Lions auction

President Rick Fowler of the Mapleton Lions Club announced the club’s 64th annual auction will be held Saturday, May 16, at the Lions Hall.

The club ran two successful online auctions during the COVID-19 pandemic. When the auction returned, it came back as a hybrid event with online bidding a few days before and the final auction held in person.

Club members believe buyers missed the traditional social experience that older auctions had, but the online bidding was successful, so they are continuing the hybrid plan. Starting bids for items will be taken online, and the ending bids online will become the starting bids for the in-person event.

The Mapleton Lions Club will hold their 64th Mapleton Lions Charity Auction on May 16th and will accept online bidding prior to the evening’s auction. Online bids that match the total value of the individual item are frequently accepted as the final sale bid.

Readers can visit Matt Gregg Auctions at greggauctions.com for the online portion. Items can also be viewed online to see what has been donated and will be sold in the auction.  All items purchased and not taken following the auction will be available for pickup on May 17.

The auction is the club’s largest fundraising activity and funds the Lions’ many charitable activities.

The Mapleton Daze Committee will host a baked bean supper prior to the auction. Everyone is invited to dine at the club and then come to the auction to help support the Lions’ work in the three communities and the summer festival.
