The Central Aroostook Humane Society sends a huge “Thank you” to all the families and furry friends who showed up for our annual pet show during the Maine Potato Blossom Festival.
Our Tuesday evening show was postponed because of some potentially dangerous weather reports. The show was rescheduled for Sunday at noon, and even though it was a cool and super breezy day, it didn’t stop 20 participants from coming by and showing off their beloved pets.
Lots of people stopped by to watch the show and applaud and cheer on the pets as they pranced around the gazebo lawn. Paws and Play Kennels sponsored the festival pet Show, and we are so very grateful for their support.

This year’s event was once again in memory of Marcia Reed, who started this wonderful fundraiser 35 years ago. Marcia worked hard to create a fun and exciting way to have families show off their beloved pets. Each entry went home with a beautiful blue ribbon.
The registrations and donations raised $125 for the shelter animals.
We encourage all pet owners to have their furry family members spayed and neutered. There are so many benefits to scheduling to have this done. You can speak to your veterinarian if you have questions, and they can give you more information about the benefits of surgery, timeline of maturity for your pet and setting up a presurgical consult.
Additionally, spaying and neutering can help alleviate the overpopulation crisis, providing a better future for all animals. By choosing to spay and neuter your pet, you are taking the responsible and compassionate step toward their happiness and overall quality of life. It is the right thing to do.
