High pressure will build into the Saint John Valley today with mostly sunny skies, after some patchy fog dissipates this morning, and dry conditions across the area. An upper-level trough moves across later today bringing a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms to the region. Highs today reach the mid-70s with northwest winds 5-10 mph.
Tonight, mostly clear skies this evening will become partly cloudy overnight as upper-level troughing remains near the region. Lows will drop into the lower 50s with west wind near calm overnight allowing the formation of patchy fog overnight.
Thursday will feature partly sunny skies early with mostly cloudy conditions in the afternoon and a 70% chance of afternoon showers and scattered thunderstorms with a few strong storms possible ahead of an approaching cold front. Rainfall amounts in the 1/4 to 1/2-inch range expected for most locations.
The cold front moves through by early Friday with a slight chance of showers Thursday night producing less than 1/10-inch precipitation for most locations. Temperatures in the lower 50s with west winds 0-5 mph.
The cold front moves east Friday with lingering isolated showers across the Valley. Scattered showers are possible Friday afternoon as an upper-trough crosses with precipitation winding down Friday afternoon. Rainfall amounts less than 1/10-inch expected. High in the upper 60s with breezy northwest winds 10-15 mph gusting 20-25 mph at times.
High pressure building in from the west brings mostly clear skies Friday night and cool conditions with lows falling into the upper 40s to low 50s overnight. Northwest winds in the 0-7 mph range expected.
Mid-range: Sat. Aug. 15 – Tue. Aug. 18
High pressure slides from the Great Lakes southeast into the Mid-Atlantic region Saturday into Sunday. An occluding low pressure system approaches later Sunday and crosses the Valley Monday into Tuesday followed by another frontal system Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Saturday looks mostly sunny and dry with a high in the low 70s. Northwest winds 8-14 mph. Saturday night, partly cloudy skies with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. West winds 0-7 mph.
Sunday, remains mostly sunny skies with a high in the mid-70s and west winds 0-7 mph. Sunday night, increasing clouds with a 30% chance of showers after midnight. Temperatures in the lower 50s and south wind 0-7 mph.
Monday, partly sunny skies with a 30% chance of scattered showers and a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms. High in the lower 70s with southwest winds 0-7 mph. Monday night, a 20% chance of showers tapering off overnight. Lows in the lower 50s with winds becoming northwest 0-7 mph.
Tuesday, partly cloudy skies with a high in the middle 70s and northwest wind 0-7 mph. A slight chance of afternoon showers expected. Tuesday night, a 20% chance of showers in the evening as a warm front approaches, then partly cloudy with a low in the lower 50s. Northwest wind 0-7 mph.
