Lions ready for fair opening

The Northern Maine Fair will open a week from today on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m., and the Mapleton Lions are getting their food booth ready for serving your fair favorites.

Rick Fowler is the new Mapleton Lions Den manager this year. To mark the new leadership of this annual fundraising project, the club will add delicious chicken fingers to its menu.

Come on out to the fair and help support the club’s community work in the central Aroostook Area.  

Besides chicken fingers, the Den will serve favorite sandwiches, french fries and doughboys.  

The fair’s gates will open at 2 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Aug. 5-7, and the Lions’ booth will serve food from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Serving hours on Saturday, Aug. 8, will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sunday, the den will be open from noon to 6 p.m.

The club will set up two serving lines, one for regular food items and the second for doughboys only.  The two-line setup speeds up purchases of food as everyone will not have to wait in a single line for both meals and doughboys as in the past.

Funds raised will help the club develop the new Willard C. Doyen and Family Field as well as buy food for the town food closet, buy eyeglasses for those in need, support Quoggy Jo Youth Skiing and also support the Mapleton Recreation Program and its Little League.
