    Presque Isle – Georgena M. Lyons, 86, wife of the late Alfred Lyons, went home to be with her Lord, Monday November, 16, 2009, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born September 29, 1923, in Presque Isle, the daughter of George and Florence (Akeley) Corey. Image
    Georgena had been an active member of the State St. Baptist Church for many years ministering in the choir, serving on the Social Committee and being a member of the Dedicators and the Alethinai Missionary Group. She had been employed as a Registered Nurse at the Presque Isle General Hospital, A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital and then The Aroostook Medical Center for over 40 years. Following her retirement,  Georgena was a volunteer with Aroostook R.S.V.P. for many years.
    She is survived by two special nephews and their wives, Timothy and Barbara Corey of South Carolina and Peter and Martha Corey of Bangor; a special niece, Cindy Boyd of New Hampshire; several other nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Joan Corey of Tennessee; also special loved ones, Rod and Wendy McCrum of Westfield, Haley and Mark Kelley of Mapleton and Rick, Nancy and Sarah Duncan of Presque Isle. Besides her husband and parents, Georgena was predeceased by a sister and brothers, Bera Sevieri, Carl Corey, Kenneth Corey and his wife Bessie, Philip Corey and Rev. Charles Edwin Corey.
    Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Reverends Mitch Ross and  Michael Shaw officiating. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home from 1 p.m. on Saturday until the time of the service. Interment was in the Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle.
