“Presque Isle High School’s selection was based on Nate’s academic excellence, his outstanding school citizenship, his strong leadership, and his contributions in the athletics arena,” said Principal Eric Waddell. “He is an excellent representative of PIHS; I am very proud of him.”
Ackerson plans to major in secondary education at the University of Maine in the fall. He is the son of James and Debbie Ackerson of Presque Isle.
Ackerson, Waddell and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor Saturday, April 3 at 1 p.m. The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of seven $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard Tyler, former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.
