Limestone selectman resigns

LIMESTONE, Maine — Limestone’s Select Board accepted Chairman Steven Beaulieu’s resignation on Wednesday, and agreed to temporarily place selectman Tom Albert as chair and for Greg Ward to maintain his position as vice chair.

Limestone Economic Development Coordinator Dennis McCartney said via email on Dec. 21 that Beaulieu’s resignation is due to his father being “very ill” and in a Bangor hospital.

The board also agreed to hold an election for a replacement on March 20 to allow ample time to place advertisements for the position.

“You can hold an election on the 20th and be all set for our meeting on the 21st,” Albert said, “and what a way to jump in.”

Any Limestone residents interested in applying for the position can pick up papers at the town office on 93 Main Street and return them by March 1.
