PRESQUE ISLE — The Wildcat hockey team was hoping to extend its season in its Eastern Maine Class B quarterfinal matchup against Lawrence.
Presque Isle, which finished with an 8-10 regular season record, entered the playoffs as the No. 5 seed and took on fourth-place Lawrence at Sukee Arena in Winslow yesterday afternoon at 5 p.m.
The winner will play top-ranked Brewer in the semifinals Saturday afternoon, also at Sukee.
Presque Isle ended its regular season last Tuesday with an 11-1 home loss to the Witches.
Brewer scored three goals in the final 2:02 of the opening period before Connor Shaw scored off assists by Isaac LaJoie and Adam Flynn 2:14 into the second period to put the Wildcats on the scoreboard.
The Witches then scored eight unanswered goals to close out the game. Brewer outshot PI, 52-19.
