Stay safe on our trail system
IN THE CITY
by Laurie Kelly
Welcome to our Winter Vacationland! With a few more snowfalls occurring, the city of Presque Isle and surrounding communities have finally seen the anticipated “snowmobiling season” come to fruition. There are a lot of happy snow sledders on the trails anxious to get in a few hours of enjoyment.
And with the rush to get a few hours of sledding in, we want to remind folks to stay and ride safe. Carry along any extra gear and equipment that you can – just in case you get stuck somewhere. Let someone know which direction or location you are headed and your estimated time of return.
Drive and ride at posted and reasonable speeds, and please, do not drive under the influence. Be careful to adhere to posted trail signs, especially at road crossings that may be hindered by the higher snow banks. Watch out, too, for some of our local wildlife – they like the trails as well!
If snowmobiling is your hobby, get out and hit the fantastic trail system that northern Maine has to offer. Stop in and visit the many snowmobile clubs along the way, take in the frozen beauty, and stay safe.
