Mapleton native starts personal training business in Central Aroostook

MAPLETON, Maine — Ryan Ashby, a Mapleton resident and 2005 Presque Isle High School graduate, has begun a new business venture that he hopes will help people of all ages develop healthy short-term and long-term exercise and nutritional habits.

Ashby is now accepting clients as the owner and head trainer of NorthPeak Wellness and offers fitness and nutrition plans that are customized to meet each client’s specific needs. He is available to meet with clients throughout Central Aroostook weekly at local fitness facilities, their homes or other locations to adjust plans as needed and discuss goal setting.

“I wanted to give citizens in Aroostook County the opportunity to instill healthy fitness and nutrition goals whether they’re just starting out or are more experienced and are looking to improve,” Ashby said. “Proper diet and exercise can help reduce stress and anxiety as well as health issues such as diabetes. Exercise itself is great for improving flexibility and strength.”

Ashby is certified by the American Sports and Fitness Association in personal training and nutrition and is pursuing additional certification in those areas from the International Sports Science Association. He hopes to further expand NorthPeak Wellness in the future by offering virtual fitness and nutrition planning services, partnering with businesses to create employee wellness programs, and possibly opening a private gym in the Central Aroostook area.

“I’m most looking forward to partnering with individuals and businesses and showing people that it’s never too late to start their journey into a healthier lifestyle,” Ashby said. “I can work with each person individually to meet their goals regardless of their age level or experience.”
