This honor to Katahdin Trust Compay was presented at the Maine Sports Legends 16th annual Awards Banquet that was held in October at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville.

A number of student athletes, sports enthusiasts and coaches were also recognized at the event.

According to the Maine Sports Legends President, Susan Lougee, the award was presented to Katahdin Trust Company “in appreciation and gratitude for your many years of service and your continuing efforts on behalf of all of our student athletes,” as stated on the plaque.

“Katahdin Trust Company has always supported our scholar athletes by donating toward the two scholarships we give each year to students in Aroostook County,” Lougee added.

The 2011 scholar athletes who benefited directly from Katahdin Trust Company’s contribution for Aroostook County were Shelby Hartin from Southern Aroostook and Duncan “DJ” Flynn from Caribou, each receiving a $500 scholarship award.

Jon Prescott, president and CEO of Katahdin Trust Company, accepted the award on behalf of the bank.

“As a company we strive to invest back into the community,” stated Prescott. “We are pleased to support an organization that honors and provides scholarships to the deserving scholar athletes around the state of Maine.”
