This is my view
To the editor:
The PAYT program forces us to separate, recycle, and deal with our own trash like adults. Sometimes that is necessary for our planet.
One thing I would like to see the city do is to have a place where the do-it-yourselfer could bring demolition material to instead of driving up to the stink hole called the landfill. Ever go there in the spring or late fall? In our city there are those that do not pull their share of the load. Thus the price goes up.
I am sure the citizens that should be supporting the PAYT program by getting rid of their trash on somebody’s nickel are feeling like they really pulled a fast one on us all. Ha, ha! The laws don’t apply to me.
Before all these blue and orange bags, we bought a sticker for $140/year and that worked also. Without this PAYT program it won’t take too long to remember seeing the roadside litter everywhere. If you pay by the bag and have to be reasonable by tying and having them out by a certain time, I feel you use more thought in caring for your own waste.
