T11, R7, Maine — Two log truck drivers escaped serious injury early Aug. 21 when their vehicles collided along a section of the Pinkham Road. “Sheriff’s deputies were called to a traffic accident on the Pinkham Road in T11, R7 around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. When deputies arrived they found two log trucks had collided, causing significant damage to both vehicles,” said Chief Dep. Sheriff Darrell Crandall, of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.
The trucks were loaded with logs at the time of the accident.
“Toby Saucier was driving west in a 2007 Western Star and Dylan Bois was traveling east in a 2010 Western Star, each with a load of logs. Both men are from Frenchville. As Saucier’s truck finished crossing the one-lane bridge over the Big Machias River, Bois’s tractor struck Saucier’s loaded trailer,” Crandall said.
According to Crandall, Bois’s truck continued across the bridge, striking the guardrail and going into the ditch before coming to a stop.
“Saucier’s trailer sustained about $7,500 in damage. Bois’s tractor, owned by Northern Timber Trucking of Fort Kent, is believed to be totalled,” said Crandall.
Bois was taken by ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Saucier was not injured.
“Although the Pinkham Road is considered a private road, an accident report is required because one of the people involved was injured,” said Crandall.
Sgt. Forrest Dudley, of the ACSO, is continuing to investigate the crash.
