Peary receives honor

Thomas K. Peary, of Presque Isle, was recently honored as a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award a local council of the Boy Scouts of America can present to a volunteer scouter. Nominees are selected and recommended to the National Court of Honor for the Silver Beaver Award based on evidence of noteworthy service to the community in addition to service to scouting.     Peary has been involved in Scouting for 35 years as both a youth and as an adult. An Eagle Scout since 1975, Peary is also a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, scouting’s National Honor Society.  He serves as scoutmaster of Troop 171 in Presque Isle, is a member of the North Star District Committee and is also Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner.
In addition to his scouting service, Peary uses his computer skills to provide individual ministry to the parishioners and staff of Presque Isle and Easton Wesleyan churches, addressing and solving their varied computer needs. He also teaches computer networking skills to staff and provides support for the electronic equipment of the churches. Preferring to work behind the scenes, Peary is an outstanding example of servant leadership.
