On Sunday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Country Farms Market will kick off summer with a community fundraiser with all proceeds going toward Prestile Park.

There will be raffles, prizes, lunch, clowns and more, including a barbecue serving up smoked chicken, pulled pork, burgers, hot dogs and a variety of beverages. The cost will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Lots of fun is planned, with live music by Heath Bartley, entertainment with the Anah Shrine Klowns and popcorn.

Raffle prizes will include a Celtics jersey, barbecue smoker, a branded golf bag and coolers, winter hats and gloves, a cornhole set, Thermoses, collectibles, a fisherman’s package and more.

Girl Scouts to the rescue

Girl Scouts of Easton from Troops 1136 and 1275 recently cleaned up Prestile Park and Girl Scouts Park, picking up trash and gathering recyclables.

The Scouts collected a cash donation for the playground fundraiser. The girls donated their Girl Scouts dues, as well as did a “spare change drive” to collect $125 for the park.

Troop 1136 and 1275 worked on their community service project of “helping make downtown Easton beautiful again” and provided the “girl power” to plant the flowers for the town, with the Help of Ryan Gundy, town custodian.

Scholar athletes

On April 13 there was a  virtual banquet at Easton High school for two students and their families. This banquet was the Aroostook Senior Scholar Athlete Scholarship  banquet, which would normally be held in person at Caribou high school.

Easton’s two selected students were Mitchell Flewelling and Savannah Guess. Students are selected by the principal and athletic director for every school in Aroostook County.

Keynote speaker Bill Green presented and after he spoke there were 10 $400 scholarships drawn randomly from the pool of County students. Flewelling was fortunate enough to have his name drawn from this elite group of student-athletes who truly understand and have demonstrated what it is to be a scholar student within their school communities.

A big congratulations to both Savannah and Mitchell in being selected as Easton’s Senior Scholar Athletes for 2020/2021 school year.
