MAPLETON, Maine — A Mapleton man received minor injuries after his pickup rolled over in Castle Hill on Sunday.

David Bernier, 57, was driving east on Route 163 at approximately 5 p.m. on May 15 when he swerved to avoid an animal in the road, according to Maine State Police Trooper Ryan Kilcollins.

Bernier’s 2013 Chevrolet Silverado slid in some loose gravel on the side of the road. He lost control of the truck and inadvertently overcorrected. The pickup veered off the road and struck a patch of trees before rolling over onto its passenger side, police said.

Bernier suffered minor injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt, Kilcollins said.

Presque Isle Fire and Ambulance and the Mapleton Fire Department assisted.

Speed was considered a factor in the crash, according to police.
