Local man takes religious vows – Brother Robert Bouchard originally from Soldier Pond, and, S.C was one of four young men who made a profession of religious vows in the Order of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in special ceremonies at the Sacred Heart Novitiate Chapel in R.I. on a Sunday in 1974. Upon completing a two-week vacation at home with his family, Brother Robert will begin teaching at Bishop Guertin High School, conducted by the Brothers in Nashua, N.H.

First of many – The first two people to purchase the Centenaire de St. Agatha, Maine publication during the St. Agatha Centennial festivities were Francois Siroirs, Director Gloria Gervais, Jean-Paul Michaud, along with Director Carole Plourde and Director Terry Ouellette. The historical house is open daily to receive guests.

New bridge open to all traffic — Officials from both sides of the Maine/New Brunswick border attended the official opening of the $13.9 million Clair-Fort Kent International Bridge today, Thursday, July 31, 2014. The bridge construction was completed two months ahead of schedule, according to both Maine and New Brunswick transportation agencies. The project broke ground in the spring of 2012. The new bridge over the St. John River links U.S. Route 1 and Maine Route 161 on the Canadian side. Both countries are co-owners of the new bridge; construction and maintenance costs are shared equally by Maine and New Brunswick, according to the press release. Daily traffic on the bridge averages more than 1,000 cars and 45 trucks, according to MDOT.
