The Mars Hill and Blaine Community Center was the site of the 2015 Mz. Mars Hill Contest on Saturday, April 11. There were nine young beauties that graced the stage for the entertainment of a packed house.
The night’s mister of ceremonies was Eileen Wright (Scott Belair), who was very vocal, with several great stories to tell throughout the evening.
The night’s judges were Chappy Clark, town manager of Blaine; Larry Fletcher, owner of A & M Auto and Larry’s Adult Daycare; Carlton Craig, who cleans up daily after everyone’s kids at CAHS; and Deputy Shawn Gillen, who was crowned the First Mz. Mars Hill back in the day!
Contestant number 1 was Iona Wrangler (Cody Clayton) who was crowned the 2015 Mz. Mars Hill. His parents are Ginger and Ryan Campbell and Tony Clayton. He sang “Fishin’ in the Dark” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band as his talent. He was escorted by Willy Fixit (Sam Kearney).
Contestant number 2 was Mary A Richman (Alex Folsom). The son of Connie and Arden Folsom, he danced to “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” for his talent and was escorted by Oliver Bucks (Jordan Canney). He was named Mz. Spirit.
Contestant number 3 was Anita Honey (Chandler Brewer), son of Tim and Colleen Brewer. He sang “I Knew You Were Trouble” by Taylor Swift as his talent. Escorted by Lee Mealone (Bailee Durost), he was named Mz. First Loser.
Contestant number 4 was Elsa Winorelse (Zack Grass), son of Kevin and Donna Grass. He sang “Let It Go” as his talent. Escorted by Olaf Loser (Carly Grass), he was named Mz. Priss.
Contestant number 5 was Anita Nurse (Donovan Siler). The son of Phillip Cahoon and Candice Rivera, he was named Mz. Leggs. He danced to “Fireball” by Pitbull as his talent and was escorted by Dr. Hurtt (Mayra Gonzalez).
Contestant number 6 was Anna Conda (Sean Brock), son of Darci Ladner and Donald Brock. He “sang” “Bed of Lies” by Nicki Minaj as his talent and was escorted by Nick E (Emily Pickance). He was named Mz. Spitfire.
Contestant number 7 was Barbie Dahl (Zach Chandler). The son of Karen and Eric Theriault and David Chandler, he “sang” and danced to “Shake It Off” and “Uptown Funk”. He was escorted by Ken Shecomover (Whitnie Bradbury) and was named Mz. Attitude.
Contestant number 8 was Gracie Thornbush (Kenny Wells), son of Renae Wells and James Cox. He danced to “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift as his talent and was escorted by Andrew Blood (Courtney Milliard). He was named Mz. Graceful.
Contestant number 9 was Bonnie Ann Clyde (Allen Cormier). The son of Jamie and Russ Spittle, he juggled to “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice as his talent. Escorted by Colin D’Cops (Shannon Scully), he was named Mz. Congeniality.

Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, April 14, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The club discussed upcoming events.
Library news
While not completely done with renovations, the Board of Directors is happy go announce that the T.A. Hansen Memorial Library is again open for business! Most of the library’s collections have been re-shelved and the computers are back in place for use by patrons. Please stop in when you get a chance and see the fantastic changes that have taken place.
Aroostook Health Center
Upcoming events for the week of April 22-28 include: Wednesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Cooking Class at 9:30 a.m., Crossword Puzzle Challenge at 1:30 p.m., Young At Heart Senior Fitness at 2:30 p.m. and East Ridge Union Church at 6:30 p.m. Thursday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Horse Racing at 1:30 p.m. Friday will feature Spring Jingo at 9:30 a.m. and Karaoke with Larry and Larry at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will be a free day. Sunday will feature Mennonite Hymnsing at 6:30 p.m. Monday will feature Coffee Chat at 9:30 a.m., Nail Beautiful at 10:00 a.m., Devotions with Velma at 2:00 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change. If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities, call Connie or Vicki at 768-4915.
BINGO
The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting BINGO every Saturday evening from 7 p.m., until done. There are cash prizes. Refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends!
After The Bell
After The Bell will be swimming on Thursday, April 23, and eating at McDonald’s. Leaving from Fort Street at 9:30 a.m., back at 1 p.m. Cost is $7 per child, plus lunch money.
