Vernon “Sam” C. Elliott

ImageMAPLETON – Vernon “Sam” C. Elliott, 77, died Saturday evening Nov. 3, 2007, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born in Mapleton on March 9, 1930, the son of Charles S. and Climena (Archer) Elliott.     Sam served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He most recently worked as a night watchman at Levesque Lumber in Masardis.
    He is survived by two sons, Charles Elliott of Mapleton, Kevin DaFonte of Hartley, Del., a step-son Stephen McPherson of Presque Isle, a brother Erwin Elliott and his wife Paula of Mapleton; four grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Pelkey of Presque Isle, Dylan Elliott of Mapleton, Mason Lavway of Iowa, and Cassie Elliott of FL; and three great-grandchildren, two adopted grandchildren Samantha Murphy and T.J. Lovley, both of Presque Isle.  He was predeceased by his wife Reta (McPherson) Elliott, two sons, Stuart and Sammye Elliott, and a sister Donna Landry.
    A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Southside Cemetery, Mapleton with the Rev. Kenneth Fox officiating. Condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com.
