Not one to give up without a fight, Chasse completed a rehab stint at Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado, one of the world’s top rehabilitation centers.
He has now returned to Presque Isle, and continues his rehab daily. His determination and voracious personality have Chasse achieving milestone advancements, such as new muscles appearing, the ability to feed himself and the use of a manual wheelchair that he maneuvers on his own. A website has been created by his loved ones, appropriately called www.mikechasse.com, to monitor his progress.
A luau dance organized to benefit Chasse will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Northeastland Hotel in Presque Isle from 7 to 11 p.m. Music will be provided by local band Sound Friendships. There will be free popcorn and a cash bar, as well as limbo and hula hoop contests. The cost will by $7 per person or $12 a couple. Tickets to the luau can be purchased at the door or at County Physical Therapy in Caribou or Presque Isle.
Organizers will also hold a benefit raffle. Prizes are valued at over $4,000 and include three Fuji mountain bikes, a kayak, a Weber grill provided by S.W. Collins Company, fitness memberships to County Physical Therapy’s fitness centers and more. Tickets for the raffle will be available at the dance, or can be purchased ahead of time for $10 each or three for $20 at any County Physical Therapy location. You do not need to be present at the dance to win any raffle prizes.
With significant medical expenses, friends of Chasse and his family have organized several benefit activities to help defray costs. Chasse will draw the prize winners the day of the dance.
