Feline foster care team needed

    The Houlton Humane Society currently has over 100 cats in our Shelter facility that have been abandoned, neglected, abused, or surrendered to the Shelter for a variety of reasons. Even with our brand new facility, we do not have enough room for this many animals. Feline Foster team members can help by bringing the animals into their homes or businesses and providing the special care and attention required until it’s time for the cats and/or kittens to go up for adoption. Feline Foster Team members are directly responsible for saving cats’ lives every year.
    When you become a Feline Foster Team member, all you provide is the home and the love. The Houlton Humane Society pays for the food, veterinary care, litter, even toys and other supplies. Foster Team members need to be comfortable handling cats, but for most, that’s the only experience required.
    The Houlton Humane Society is asking individuals to become Feline Foster Team members. The commitment would be for two to three months depending on the individual animal’s age, condition, and shelter population.
    For an application to become a Feline Foster Team member, please call the animal shelter at 532-2862 or stop by Monday through Saturday, 11 to 4 pm, to complete an application to become part of this life saving team. The Houlton Humane Society is a no-kill Shelter dedicated to providing quality care to all abandoned, abused and neglected animals in our area. Only with your help can we continue this work.
