HOULTON — It is time, once again, to bring your best crafts, photography, canned goods, baking and sewing to the Houlton Agricultural Fair to see if you could win a blue ribbon and some cash prizes. There are many categories in which to enter and you just need to pick up a premium book at Aroostook Milling or Chadwick’s Florists and decide which categories you want to enter.
Good news for all knitters out there because there is an extra premium this year in the knitting section. Also, don’t forget your flowers and herbs. Thanks to our long winter, we are going into July with some beautiful flowers in bloom in our gardens. So get out there and pick a bouquet and drop it off in the exhibit hall on July 1 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. or Wednesday, July 2 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
For all you cooking enthusiasts this will be our second annual Baked Bean Contest and we know there are a lot of you out there who make “the best” baked beans. In addition, there is a contest for 13 to 18 year olds to see who can bake the best chocolate roll.. As always, we will be holding the State of Maine Apple Pie Contest and the State of Maine Blueberry Pie Contest. The winner of these contests will take home a blue ribbon and $100.
Also, the Houlton Farms Dairy contest is for an apple cinnamon coffee cake. For more information, go online at Houltonfair.com or call 538-9752.
