DANVERS, Mass. – Mr. Dana E. Stevens, 94, husband of Beryl E. (McLaughlin) Stevens, died July 14, 2008, at Cedar Glen Healthcare. Born and raised in Merrill, he was the son of the late Leland and Orrie (Elwell) Stevens.
He received his education in the Merrill school system. Mr. Stevens had been employed for many years as a heating technician for the former Elliot Fuel Co., Danvers, Mass., until the time of his retirement. Prior to that, he worked for the General Electric Co., Lynn, Mass., and was raised as a potato farmer in Aroostook County. A resident of the town of Danvers, Mass., since 1940, he was a member of Mosaic Lodge AF & AF. He and his wife were avid square dancers and were members of Riverside Squares. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage, Dana is survived by two daughters, Darla Ellery and her husband, Richard, and Lisa Stevens, all of Danvers, Mass.; two sons, Richard A. Stevens and his wife, Joan, of Linneus and Kevin C. Stevens and his wife, Heidi, of Lincoln; five grand-children; ten great-grand-children; two sisters, Norma Rockwell of New Hampshire and Ruth McNeil of Danvers, Mass.; two brothers, Leland Stevens of Ipswich, Mass., and Phil Stevens; many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late William Stevens, Dwight Stevens and Waldo Stevens.
His funeral service was held 11 a.m. Friday at Peterson- O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., Route 62, Danvers, Mass. Relatives and friends were invited. Burial was at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers, Mass. Visiting hours were 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
