Aroostook Idol Friday
HOULTON — The fifth annual county-wide talent competition kicks off at 7 p.m. in Houlton High School Friday to narrow the field for the title of “Aroostook Idol.” Previous winners will act as judges as the audience votes for its favorite contestants.
Tickets are $8 and proceeds go to the United Way of Aroostook County (UWA) to support local agencies working with the county’s neediest families.
Claudia Stevens, UWA executive director, says tickets are still available and she looks forward to a great turnout.
Dog licenses
HOULTON — Town Clerk Cathy O’Leary is reminding residents that dog owners are required to obtain a license each year for their pet by January 1.
If the dog is licensed after January 31st, a late fee of $15 has to be paid in addition to the $11 annual fee for dogs that have not been spayed or neutered. The annual fee is $6 if the dog has been spayed or neutered.
In March, O’Leary says, a warrant has to be filed listing the owners of unlicensed dogs and a late fee at that time is $25 per dog plus court costs.
