From the Beginning

Levi Chasse rolls the Dead River Company/Food Trend car into starting position on top of Derby Hill. Dead River Co. entered a soap box derby car in the first race held on Drake’s Hill in 1996 with Tim Bossie driving the car. Through the years, there have been several drivers, and Dead River Co. continues to support the derby each year by sponsoring this car. There are a host of businesses who sponsor cars, along with individual families, who want to see their child(ren) or community youth involved in the Northern Maine Soap Box Derby race. If anyone has a car that has set idle and would like to put it back into circulation, call Marie Carmichael at 532-1310 as she has a list of youth who would like to participate in the derby, but don’t have a car.
