HOULTON — Attorneys for a 21-year-old Thayne Ormsby, the man accused of killing three individuals in Amity last summer, asked an Aroostook County Superior Court judge Thursday to suppress statements Ormsby made to police in June and July of 2010.
A six-hour hearing was held in Aroostook County Superior Court in Houlton before Justice E. Allen Hunter.
Ormsby’s attorneys, James Dunleavy and Sarah LeClaire of Presque Isle, filed paperwork claiming that their client’s Miranda rights were violated and the statements he made to police should not be admissible as evidence during his murder trial. That trial is tentatively slated to begin in the fall.
Ormsby is accused of of stabbing to death Jeffrey Ryan, 55; Ryan’s 10-year-old son Jesse; and Jason Dehahn, 30, all of Amity.
No action was taken on the request. Attorneys are expected to submit additional written statements to the justice. A decision is expected to be made sometime next month on the motion.
