KVHC donates Thanksgiving baskets to needy local families

For six years running, Katahdin Valley Health Center has held an employee fundraising event to provide Thanksgiving baskets for local families. This year, 20 KVHC employees donated $700.00 toward this event, which was generously matched by KVHC for a grand total of $1,400.00. With this funding, we were able to provide 52 Thanksgiving baskets to local families in Millinocket, Patten, Island Falls, Houlton, and surrounding communities.
Each basket has everything needed to provide a complete Thanksgiving meal, including a 12-14 pound turkey, stuffing mix, potatoes, gravy, various side dishes and trimmings, and a freshly baked pie. Community members that have received a Thanksgiving basket are given a voucher that can be redeemed for their basket at their local Hannaford store. This year’s fundraiser was directed by Megan Day, with aid from Carrie Kyllonen and Lynn Appleton.
