FORT FAIRFIELD – Officials with TD Banknorth and the Northern Maine Community College Foundation have announced plans to host their third annual golf tournament at the Aroostook Valley Country Club in Fort Fairfield on Thursday, August 14.

“TD Banknorth is pleased to again be the title sponsor of this most enjoyable and beneficial event. This year’s tournament again benefits the Northern Maine Community College Foundation. Funds raised will support the many worthwhile ongoing activities of the foundation, and will provide important scholarships for many worthy students through the TD Banknorth Scholarship Fund,” said Michael Kelley, of TD Banknorth. “As title sponsor, TD Banknorth is proud to be a partner with organizations such as NMCC, and, most  importantly, is pleased to be able to support area students in their quest to continue their education.”
Last year’s tournament raised $17,000, and this year’s promises to be even more successful with the addition of several new sponsors and more golfers taking part.
“This is one of the most enjoyable golf tournaments of the season,” said Melony LeShane, who serves as chair of the golf tournament related activities committee for the NMCC Foundation. “It promises great company on a beautiful course followed by an excellent meal and silent auction, all to benefit students furthering their education in Aroostook County. I can’t think of a better way to spend the afternoon.”
Individuals interested in playing in this year’s event or donating an item for the silent auction can contact Aimee Wilkins at the NMCC Foundation office, 760-1188 or awilkins@nmcc.edu.
In addition to the title sponsor TD Banknorth, Quigley’s Building Supply of Fort Kent and Coca Cola Bottling Company of Presque Isle, along with the Northern Maine Development Commission and Fairpoint Communications, are major sponsors of the event.
The tournament will feature two hole-in-one prizes: a cruise valued at  $5,000 sponsored by Cruise One and a new vehicle sponsored by Harry’s Honda. Lunch will again be sponsored by the Northern Maine Medical Center.
Among the hold sponsors are Huber Engineered Woods, Husson College, Sure Winner Foods, Maine Mutual Group Insurance and Daigle and Houghton, Inc. Half-hole sponsors include Frank Martin and Sons, Cary Medical Center, Pines Health Services, The Aroostook Medical Center, Hayden Perry Insurance, the Presque Isle Rotary Club, Caron’s Lawn and Property Maintenance and Daigle Oil Co.
There will be a silent auction with items donated by several local sponsors including County Physical Therapy, Graves’ Shop n’ Save, Arby’s, Griffith Ford, U.S. Cellular and Art’s Appliance and Furniture. In recognition of their generosity and lead donation to the silent auction, this year’s silent auction will be named the Advantage Payroll auction.
