The official start of the 2013 soccer season started last Saturday in Easton, as the Hodgdon/GHCA varsity boys and girls each took their first losses of the year.
In the boys game, the score was close, with the Bears edging the Hawks, 2-1 on a goal scored by Hunter Turner with 1:59 left in the game. Drew Sotomayor scored the first goal of the game for Easton unassisted with 35:39 left in the first half.
Jimmy Buzzell of Hodgdon/GHCA scored the equalizer unassisted with 34:30 left in the second half.
Easton’s goalie Jake Flewelling had six saves on nine shots, while Hodgdon/GHCA net keeper Tristan Larson blocked 21 of 34 shots.
In the girls game, Easton shutout Hodgdon/GHCA, 6-0.
Hodgdon goalie Cassidy Clark stopped 18 of 35 shots faced. The Easton netminders combined for eight saves on eight shots.
The Hodgdon/GHCA boys and girls will host Washburn on Friday at 4 p.m.
