WOODFORD, VA & HOULTON – Eric Vaughn Murray, 51, went home to Heaven on November 11, 2014, after a rapidly progressive cancer took his life. He was born July 25, 1963, in Houlton, the son of Vaughn and Barbara (Gilpatrick) Murray.
Eric attended schools in Houlton and in 1985, he moved to Virginia with his brother. In 1987, he went to work at the same government facility that his brother worked at and was still there until his death. He was looking forward to retiring in 2016 and moving back to Houlton to live with his sister and enjoy hunting and fishing in Maine again.
Eric is survived by his sister, Connie Van Dykes of Houlton; two nieces, Barbi Jones of Houlton, Nancy Clifford of Brewer; one great- nephew, Collin Clifford of Brewer; three aunts, Margaret Varney of Houlton who was a great source of support to his sister during his illness, Glenise Lynds of Houlton, Ann Hart of Tennessee; one uncle Paul Gilpatrick of Weston; many cousins and friends in Houlton and Virginia. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Orland.
Eric will be missed by so many, but none more than his sister, he called her every day since their brother’s death in 2009.
Per Eric’s wishes, a graveside service was held at Evergreen Cemetery Tuesday, November 18, with Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating.
