To the editor:
When you were young do you remember your first bike? When you fell down and scraped your knee, who came to your recuse? Your Mom did! Do you remember when your brother was picking on you? Who did you turn to but your mother. Do you remember how she would fold your clothes and put them away for you; how she would fix your favorite meal if you asked her nicely; how she would brush your hair; or the patience she had when trying to teach you how to cook?
Do you remember your first boyfriend and she talked to you about that? Even after you were married had a problem you always called Mom on the phone! When you were pregnant in the hospital who was with you? Who helped you take care of your kids? It was your Mom of course!
You fathers, do you remember when your Dad took you fishing? Remember you and your dad playing baseball on the lawn? Remember when you got old enough to go hunting, do you remember your Dad taking you? Who was it that put you on his knee and let you drive? It was your Dad.
Do you remember the Father and Daughter Dance? Do you remember the Mother and Son Dance? All these things our mothers and fathers do for us. Sometime we make a mistake when we get older we get tied up in our problems, trying to make a living and we find our parents sick and in trouble. All we can do is put them in an old age home. Sometimes our excuse is we just can’t deal with it.
I wonder if your mother and father said that when they were trying to teach you the way of life? Isn’t that a harsh way to pay them back? Let’s think about what we do to our parents before its too late and are no longer here!
